    FAQs

I’ve never talked to anyone. Do I really need professional help?

Everyone needs help now and then. The first step is having the courage to reach out. In our initial free 30 min meeting, you can tell me about the challenges you are facing and see if I can be of help. In our work together, we’ll explore and identify your strengths and use them to reduce the negative impact of your current challenges.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

There is a big difference between talking to a professional and talking to a friend. In our sessions, the focus is on you. I will listen without judgement or expectations, and work with you to overcome your personal challenges. Furthermore, our sessions are confidential and tailored to help you reach your goals – you are the single priority. On the other hand, when confiding in a friend or family member, there is a risk of straining that relationship. If you start feeling better, you may want to avoid that individual to escape memories of the difficult challenges you once faced.

Why shouldn’t I just take medication?

Medication can be effective, but it alone cannot solve all issues. Sometimes medication is needed, but our work together is designed to explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing so that you can expand on your strengths to overcome your struggles.

How does it work? Where are sessions taking place?

Sessions are currently taking place via password protected, secure video conference. Since I moved sessions online in March 2020, clients report feeling no difference in their experience from previous in-person sessions, with the added bonus of time-effectiveness that online meetings provide.

    How long will it take?

Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time it takes to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek help in the first place.

In my experience, I’ve had clients coming for only a few sessions, and others that embark on a long-term analytic journey. It really depends on what your goals and expectations are. The length of our work together is decided by you, so you never have to feel stuck.

I want to get the most out of our sessions. What can I do to help?

Your active participation and commitment will be crucial to your success.
